We Happy Few Review

Don’t Forget Your Joy…

If you enjoy indie horror survival games, this is an awesome game for you. It’s a single player, first person game which story and setting take you back in time to around the 1940’s, to a retro-futuristic world. It’s mainly played in its fictional city, Wellington Wells.

You play as Ar the Hastings, a character that is labeled as a “downer,” a person who is off of their drug called Joy.

Joy is a drug used by all residents that keep them happy, but also blind and vulnerable to horrific acts that people off their Joy try their damnedest to forget. Your character’s main goal is to escape the city, which is quite large and a lot more difficult to escape than you think.

There’s a lot to do, a lot of people to help, and a lot of trouble you can get into as well. Along with the elements of survival i.e having to stay healthy, sleeping enough, fed, and quenching your thirst, with horror having to hide from people trying to cause harm to you or the guards, you have on your hands a game that is well rounded.

We Happy Few is simply a super enjoyable game, that you will want to play over and over again. Developed and published by Compulsion games, Kickstarter kicked off the game back in 2015 and its early access release was July 2016. It’s had a great start so far.

With video gameplays all over the web, the game has had a great early access release. Developers also say with the full release there will be three characters to play so that’s something to look forward to. In the game right now, they say the game is only 50% complete, and if that’s so, there is a lot of gameplay to explore already.

I can honestly say I am excited to see the completed game. Will you play it when it comes out?
